From Cailin:
Music became the first thing in my life that felt entirely mine. When I was six years old, I found my grandfather’s old guitar and began teaching myself how to play. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a passion that helped me through some of the most difficult moments in my life. Through years of practice, determination, and self-discipline, I learned valuable lessons. Unlike many parts of my life, guitar rewarded me and taught me what patience, persistence, and passion felt like. In eighth grade, I auditioned for NESA’s Instrumental Music program, where I challenged myself to grow as both a musician and a person. Being surrounded by talented peers pushed me to work harder, study music theory, and develop the skills I have today. This summer, I have the opportunity to attend the 5 Week Aspire Berklee School of Music Summer Program. This experience would allow me to learn from world-class musicians and elevate my musical education. Music has given me a sense of direction, purpose, and community, and attending Berklee would help me continue pursuing my dream of becoming the best musician I can be. To help make this opportunity possible, my mother and I are selling Texas BBQ plates along with delicious cupcakes and fresh bread to raise funds for the program! Any support is greatly appreciated and will help me continue to grow as a musician and invest in my future.
Cailin’s love for music began when she was very young. As a toddler, she was already singing along in the car, pretending to DJ with headphones and acting like the keyboard was a turntable, and air-guitaring with a walis tambo—a traditional Filipino broom. Even then, music was not just something she enjoyed; it lit her up, much like the joy of baking cupcakes or the smell of fresh bread from a local bakery. Since then, Cailin has grown into a dedicated and self-taught musician. She has excelled in acoustic guitar, bass guitar, banjo, ukulele, cello, mandolin, and more. Her commitment to learning, creating, and growing as an artist is something truly special, much like the passion for Texas BBQ that brings people together. We are very proud of her! This fundraiser supports Cailin’s educational journey and musical future. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps her continue building the path she has worked so hard for.
